![]() Kolkata, often called the city of joy is one of the oldest cities of India and the former capital of India. The city is the third most populous city in India. It is also the business, financial and commercial hub of east and north-east India, therefore it is called the gateway of east India. Kolkata formerly used to be known as Calcutta. The city is popular for many reasons and one of the reasons is it promises food and shelter even to the lower stratum of people also. The city is cheaper in all aspects as compared to the other metropolitan cities of India. Kolkata is the headquarter of two divisions of the Indian railway i.e. Eastern Railway and South-Eastern Railway. And the most unique thing in Kolkata which is not there in any other metropolitan city is Tram. Kolkata is rich in culture and a book fair is conducted in the city which is one of the largest book fairs in India. Eden garden stadium is the largest stadium and the Salt lake stadium in the city is the second largest football stadium in the world. Mohan Bagan is one of the oldest football clubs in Asia and has been given the title of ‘National club of India’.The city is flourished in its educational aspect too. There are some good numbers of missionary schools in Kolkata. Kolkata itself has seventeen universities and autonomous institutions and a number of reputed colleges. Many of them were set up during the British raj. ]]> The medium of instructions in the schools of Kolkata are either English or Bengali. Schools in Kolkata are affiliated with either of the following boards – West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE), the National Institute of Open School (NIOS) and the A-Level (British Curriculum). The best schools in Kolkata are St.Xavier’s school, Scottish Church School, Bharatita Vidya Bhawan, Shri Shikshayatan School, Auxilium convent, etc. There are also other top schools in the Kolkata and they are- Mahadevi Birla Girls Hr Sec School which is a CBSE affiliated school and provides its students quality education with well- equipped infrastructural facilities. The top school in the city is The Good Shepherd Mission School which is affiliated to CBSE and offers education from class Nursery to VIII. Our Lady Queen of the Mission School is one of the best schools in Kolkata which ICSE affiliated and offers its students education from class Nursery to VIII. The school offers its students quality education and helps them to build a brighter future. But the problem arises when it comes to stay updates with the admission dates of the schools. In such a jungle of schools it becomes quite difficult to take a decision of choosing a specific school with a very less time in hand. In such a case, the best option which helps is onlineschooladmissions. The site gives the list of the top schools in Kolkata and makes it easier for the parents to save their both money and time. The time they spend in going to different schools for the collection, submission and admission of their child can be spared for other important works also. Because onlineschooladmissions gives the platform to the parents to get their child admitted in the school they want without going to the school many times. They even get informed whether the forms have been accepted or rejected. What they have to do is just visiting the site regularly and if the forms are accepted then go to the schools on the date of interview. Onlineschooladmissions.com is a website that caters to parents and helps makes school admissions a pleasant experience. In case you are looking out for best and top schools in Kolkata and don’t know where to begin, you don’t have to worry, breathe easy!!! It does everything for you right from filling up your form, submitting them online and scheduling a date for your child’s interview. Bangalore, INDIA (PRWEB) February 25, 2006 John Crane EAA has announced the opening of a new £1.5 million manufacturing, service and support centre in Bangalore, India. The move represents a significant addition to the company’s global network and in particular it adds extra capacity to the ability of John Crane – part of the global engineering business Smiths Group plc – to support its customers in the growing Indian and Asian markets.
John Crane India has a 10% market share of the Coupling and Seal Market, which is pegged at 26 million pounds (Rs. 208 Crores). This attributes to ½% of John Crane’s turnover of 500 million pounds. However John Crane India’s total contribution is 1% including the International Support Centre at the Centre of Excellence, Bangalore.
Keith Butler-Wheelhouse, Chief Executive Smiths Group Plc speaking at the inauguration of the new facility said “expanding in India moves us closer to our customers and closer to an area of high growth. This new Centre of Excellence also enables us to benefit from the pool of high quality people here in Bangalore”.
The company has underlined its confidence in the emerging Indian economy by selecting Bangalore as the location for its new Centre of Excellence, which in addition to serving local customers, will provide a variety of services to other parts of the John Crane network. Located in Bangalore’s Peenya industrial area the premises have been designed with flexibility and future expansion in mind. With an initial 25,000 sq ft factory capacity plus 20,000 sq ft of office accommodation they house 120 people with a range of world-class skills and abilities. Bangalore region offers a well-educated high quality workforce that can provide engineering-oriented people to help support the design elements of the new Centre’s activities.

![]() Rashid Khan Live in Concert – India’s Leading Hindustani Vocalist to Perform in Minnesota on July 17th
(PRWEB) June 28, 2005 A rare treat is in store for the residents of the Twin Cities. The Indian Music Society of Minnesota (IMSOM), celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year, next presents in its exciting chamber music series for 2005, a concert of Hindustani (North Indian classical) vocal music by the renowned young maestro Ustad Rashid Khan on Sunday, July 17.
Ustad Rashid Khan is one of the torch bearers of the new generation of vocalists, carrying on the tradition of excellence in Hindustani vocal music with rare poise and aplomb. Born in 1966, he was trained under the Gurukul system (the tradition of the student living with the Guru for several years for undergoing rigorous training) by his grand uncle, the great maestro of the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana (stylistic school or tradition), Ustad Nissar Hussain Khan  the young Rashid studied with the Ustad from the age of six, first at home and subsequently at the Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata. His musical development and prowess have been nothing short of phenomenal.
RashidÂs Alap (free form solo improvisation) is highly imaginative, his Layakari (polyrhythmic play) pulsating, and his powerful, lightning-swift Taans (ultra-fast musical passages) emerge like rippling cascades. His Raga (melodic template – the basis of Indian classical music) delineation in the Alap is traditional in its finely etched detailing; in the Firat (musical movements) he has an uncanny ability to execute movements that are complex and swift. While maintaining the grammatical contours of the Raga, its ethos and colors are brought to life with rare artistry. Little wonder, then, that Rashid has been hailed as a worthy successor to the great voices of the past. Ustad Rashid Khan was famously described by none other than Pandit Bhimsen Joshi (IndiaÂs most well known vocalist from the previous generation) as Âan assurance for the future of Indian vocal music.Â
In this upcoming concert Khan will be presenting a series of Ragas and folk and semi-classical melodies. He will be well supported by two consummate masters of their respective instruments  Pandit Anand Gopal Bandopadhyay on the Tabla (North Indian classical drums) and Sri. Jyoti Goho on the harmonium. Particularly exciting will be the chemistry Khan shares with Bandopadhyay for their rhythmic work. GohoÂs nimble accompaniment on the Harmonium will delicately shadow KhanÂs vocal music interspersed with solo statements of his own from time to time. These three artists are sure to elevate the concert proceedings to unparalleled heights of melodic beauty and percussive momentum. A concert not to be missed.
This concert is co-sponsored by the Department of Music at the University of Saint Thomas, Saint Paul, the American Express Global Volunteer Action Fund, and KFAI “Fresh Air” Radio (90.3 FM in Minneapolis and 106.7FM in Saint Paul). It is also supported in part by funds provided by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council’s (MRAC) Arts Activities Support (AAS) Grant, through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature.
