ICRA First Indian Rating Agency to Enter Europe, Signs MoU with Bulgarian Credit Rating Agency
New Delhi (PRWEB) July 23, 2004 ICRA Limited has emerged as the first Indian credit rating agency to enter the European market following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ICRA and Bulgarian Credit Rating Agency (BCRA). The MoU envisages, among other things, ICRA providing technical assistance to BCRA in designing rating methodologies, besides imparting training to BCRA analysts and helping them carry out rating assignments.
According to ICRAÂs Managing Director, Mr. P.K. Choudhury: ÂThe entry into Bulgaria underscores ICRAÂs initiatives towards lending its proven expertise to rating entities beyond India. The MoU with BCRA is important not only because it marks our entry into Europe, but also because it highlights the growing international acceptance of the expertise that our country has built up in the area of credit rating within the relatively short span of 14 years or so.Â
For BCRA, the MoU with ICRA is a critical step in the direction of institutionalising the system of credit rating in Bulgaria. For ICRA, the MoU with BCRA marks yet another step by the Indian agency to go beyond national borders. Before singing the MoU with BCRA, ICRA entered into a Technical Collaboration Agreement (TCA) with the Credit Rating Agency of Bangladesh (CRAB), and is already assisting CRAB develop rating methodologies and design advisory and information services products, among other things.
ICRAÂs footprints beyond Indian shores underscore the increasing global acceptance of an agency that is already a leading provider of credit rating, advisory and investment information services in India. Till date, ICRA has completed over 3,700 assignments, including credit ratings, equity gradings, customised research and need-based advisory services.

Jan Brewer’s office to comply with the new law, Native American tribes will continue to oppose it and seek ways to avoid its implementation, said John Lewis, executive director of the Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, which represents 20 tribes in the state. “Tribes have jurisdiction within their land, and state law doesn’t apply” Lewis said. “And the law just doesn’t work in the interests of the American Indian population.” A resolution passed by the tribal council on June 4 states that the new law would lead to disproportionate stops and detentions for tribal members, violate their sovereignty and negatively impact the tribal economy. In their resolution, the group says long-accepted standards of tribal life would suddenly be incongruous with the new law. Enforcement of the law would force many law officers to reach the “reasonable suspicion” of illegal status for a large portion of Native Americans, whose presence within the U.S. has never been in question, the resolution states. The resolution points out that English has always been a second language for many tribal members. And although each tribe has different laws, members of the tribes have not been required to carry their tribal membership documents, and some don’t possess a birth certificate or proper documents at all. Brewer’s office sent a letter May 24 to the Arizona Commission of Indian Affairs, asking the commission to cooperate with the state board that offers guidelines to law-enforcement agencies about how to enforce the new immigration law. Tasya Peterson, a Governor’s Office spokeswoman, said Brewer’s request for cooperation by the tribes is only a request, and that the governor wants to keep was an attempt to keep a dialogue open between the tribes and the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board. New York Actor Thomas Tevana to Play Indian-American FBI Agent in Upcoming Bollywood Film

New York based actor and Wilhelmina model Thomas Umer Tevana has been cast to play an Indian-American FBI Agent in the upcoming Sunny Deol starrer “Jo Bole So Nihaal” as Deol’s Hindi speaking FBI liaison. The film, directed by Rahul Rawail and produced by the father son team, Bubloo and N.R. Pachisia, is based in America. Sunny Deol plays a patriotic rebel cop who exposes hi-tech dreaded terrorist Romeo played by Kamaal Khan as the villain.
Also a model, Tevana caught “Jo Bole So Nihaal” director Rahul Rawail’s eye after his agency Wilhelmina Models referred him to the Elite Model Management agency for their Dubai opening. Rahul Rawail is also credited with launching the film career of Indian Mega-Actress Aishwarya Rai (Bride and Prejudice).
